The Yoruba genre of Nigerian Movies could take the credit for earlier listing of Nigeria Movies on the world Showbiz scene as well as Music.In the 60's,70's and through the early 80's,notable names like Ososa ,Ogun state born Doyen of Cinema,Late Chief Hubert Ogunde(who founded the first professional Theatre Company in Nigeria in 1945, called The Ogunde Concert party) ,he made globally acclaimed Celluloid Movies like Jaiyesinmi,Aiye and so on.Also,Moses Olaiya Adejumo,popularly known as Baba Sala and his Alawada Theatre Group ( with Blockbusters like Orun Moorun,1982,Aare Agbaye,1983,Mosebolatan,1985),Late Adeyemi Afolayan,popularly known as Ade Love (whose children Kunle and Gabriel Afolayan and Siblings reign in Nollywood presently),Late Kola Ogunmola, Late Duro Ladipo and a few others.These people did not only make high budget Movies then,they in fact competed favourably with the American and Indian Movies that plagued Nigerian Cinemas.The use of a large Cast and Crew was common and it was not unusual to find the Main Actor who most likely owned the Production having his entire family involved in the project.With the advent of Home Videos and the Movies we have come to know now,a sizeable number of Actors in the Yoruba genre are still keeping the flag flying and they ensure their act stays relevant no matter the competition from other parts.Here is a compilation of such Movie Artistes whose names and faces ensure a Movie is a hit.

Odunlade Adekola’s passion as a professional actor to say the least has paid off for him. The talented actor who is based in Abeokut, Ogun State who recently made millions of naira as one of newly appointed ambassadors of telecoms giant, Globacom has become a household name among Yoruba movie lovers. There is practically no new movie dat Odunlade’s face does not adorn the poster.
FEMI ADEBAYO
Femi Adebayo is the first son of veteran actor, Adebayo Salami,popularly known as Oga Bello. Femi is undoubtably one of the most exposed and educated actors in the industry.
